Testimonials
Letters written to our organization from actual clients. Please take a moment to read them below:
Dear Mike:
Just want to drop you a note to thank you for all your
help. I know that we came to you with lots of ideas
but nothing could have prepared us for the wonderful
result...
As you very well know, we were at the tail end of the
process and had arrived to a design which was
functionally correct but had no aesthetics and more
importantly did not fit the site nor our desire for a
dream house.
And with both the time constraints as well as our
desire for a functional home, you took on a task with
enormous expectations.
I can say now with the final plan approved and
preparing to break ground, we already feel like we
have lived in the house and how happy we will be
there.
I would like to thank you for your attention to our
project, for being able to give so much of your
expertise and your advice, for being able to
incorporate all our desires in the foot print we
requested and more importantly for being an
understanding listener and translator of our dreams.
I know we started this endeavor as a client and
service provider but I am happy to say I have earned a
friend as well
Sincerely,
Haile, Beth and Dan Getachew
To whom it may concern:
My husband Bob, and I engaged Mike Rust as our choice in architects after purchasing a view lot, of unusual proportions, in the town of Dewey Arizona. We knew it would take someone with creative vision to design our home to fit on the lot and yet take advantage of the panoramic views.
I am happy to say that we made a very wise decision in selecting Mike Rust.Mike has been very responsive to our ideas and incorporated them beautify into our new home. We wanted a great room blending the kitchen, dining, and living rooms together to take advantage of the views and yet give each room its own identity, not an easy task I might add. However, I can report enthusiastically that he exceeded our expectations.
He has been so easy to work with and we are very happy with his interpretation of our Dream Home. We would definitely engage him again if we were to do another project and highly recommend him to anyone considering building a home.
Sincerely,
Lazona C. Linder
Mr. Mims;
For the past year, I have been working with Mike Rust on a home I want to build in the Sierras. I wanted to let you know how much Ive enjoyed working with him.
He has been very good at listening to what I want and translating that into well-designed plans. He has also been very good at working out any little bugs (from my perspective) in the design so that the end result is a design that meets my needs and desires for this home.
He has also been very good at follow up. He checks in periodically to see how things are going and if I need any help. That, in itself, is a seemly small thing but actually is a very nice touch and lets me know that he is there should I need him.
Mike has been very easy to work with and the end result of all this is that we have a design that will be a very beautiful home when it is built.
I have enjoyed working with Mike who, I understand, has recently returned to Taliesin as an employee. Youre very fortunate to have been able to hire him back given his skill level and ability to create rapport with clients.
Sincerely
Linda Baumhefner
Dear Mike:
We covered a lot of ground this weekend, thanks to your organizational efforts. Each of the three builders was highly qualified. It was particularly difficult to choose between Greg Bergstrom and Mike Kirk, but Kathy and I remain confident we chose well in selecting Mike. Your input in leading the discussions with the builders and in discussing the pros and cons of each provided us with the guidance we needed to make this critical decision.
I also want to take this occasion to say how pleased we are with all of your services to date. Your conceptual design blends the Taliesin look that we think is so right for the site with imaginative accommodations to our own priorities for warmth and scenic views. We also want to say how much we appreciate your enthusiasm and personal attention. Relatively modest though our project is, it appears to be as important personally to you as it is to us. We look forward to continuing this adventure with you.
Sincerely,
Bernard J. Casey
Dear Mike,
Recently I completed a window and door quotation for the Knitter residence in Prescott Valley that you were the architect on. I was very impressed with the amount of detail and effort you put into these plans.
I have been in the window and door business for many years and have looked at hundreds of sets of plans. During this time, I have never come across a set of plans as thorough and accurate as the ones you have created for the Knitter's.
If the detail you put into the window and door specifications for the Knitter's residence is indicative of how you work, anybody would be fortunate to have you as the architect on their project.
It is so refreshing to work through a set of plans and have the floor plan match the elevations and window schedule.
As a representative of Sierra Pacific Industries, I look forward to working with you in the future.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Rust:
Late in 1997, Greta and I saw Life Magazine's Dream Home for that year and began dreaming of a place to put the Taliesin plan. By early 1998, we had purchased hillside property in a small West Virginia community where we could overlook a rolling valley and enjoy our retirement years. We looked forward to clearing our land and building our home by the end of that, year.
We were fortunate to travel in the area of Scottsdale, Arizona, and visited Taliesin. We spent more than and hour with Joe Lundeen discussing the plans and looking for any problems that might surprise us. He assured us that there was no particular trick to building the house as long as we had a good carpenter.
By August, we had engaged a builder who had completed several large houses and buildings in our area. With the land cleared earlier in the spring, we were able to break ground for the house on August 7, 1998. We carefully covered instructions for beginning the house, including making choices for siding, roofing, appliances, tiles, wall colors, flooring, bathroom fixtures and much more. We felt we were ahead of the game.
A previous commitment had been made by us to be out of town for eight weeks and we considered canceling it. But with assurance that we could readily be reached by telephone and could return at any time if needed, we left our contractor in charge. He understood that he had a standing invitation to call Joe Lundeen for assistance.
After a few weeks into construction, it became clear that our builder was not progressing. The Taliesin plans were beyond his grasp. It was at that time that we sought engineering assistance through Joe Lundeen and were introduced to you. How fortunate we are to have been led to you.
We want to thank you for picking up the ball when it seemed our builder needed engineering help. You provided the help he seemed to need and stood by us when detail after detail needed to be explained to him. You have been more than responsive to our long distance problems and have been instrumental in our reaching solutions to his seemingly impossible problems.
You have been an important consultant in our eventual decision to dismantle the first structure after we attempted to correct mistakes by the original builder. You have been a sounding board as we have struggled with a nasty lawsuit while at the same time starting our house again from step one. You continue to show interest in our progress as we see our home once more rise from the brow of the hill, where we are tucked away in our motor home.
Our new contractors, Ridenour Construction, take great delight in building our exciting house. They agree that they must study the drawings and learn as they go, but they are building according to the plan and find the original plan complete. Glynn Ridenour is a good carpenter. He is also a very savvy man who works with precision and creativity.
We have found no insurmountable problems so far and we are under black paper this week. Because we are so pleased with their work, we are giving the Ridenours a week in a condominium in Sedona, Arizona, in late August. They plan to visit Taliesin while they are there. I am so pleased and grateful to you that you have offered to escort them for a tour when they visit. I wish we could be there to meet you in person, also.
Mike, it is hard to put into words how pleased we have been with our working relationship with you. Thank you for being a continuing part of this project. it is far from over, but we want to express our appreciation now. Many thanks.
Sincerely,
Jim & Greta Tyler
To: Mike Rust, Architect
Mike,
I
wanted to take this
opportunity to thank you for your assistance and professional
services for the design, construction
documents and consulting for the remodel of our patio and bathroom in
2006.
As you have
seen, the end results speak for themselves. The space created is paradise!
For
future
clients, this
message is for you.
Mike
delivered
on
commitments
as
indicated from the start.
He was timely with all of
the work performed. He (actually)
showed up for all appointments on time as
committed, even when he accidentally ran over a renegade bicycling teen
dicing through a red light at an intersection. He handled all activities
professionally, was accommodating and easy to work with.
Mike took a
concept design for our patio/bathroom remodel from design, through
engineering to permitting satisfying all
requirements to complete the project. During construction, situations
occurred that Mike took special interest in, on our behalf, to
ensure appropriate actions and decisions
were executed for correct construction. Mike supported activities
through build and consulted on site as needed.
Mike, Please feel free to use us as a reference.
Again,
Thanks
for the effort expended preparing the design, construction documents and
permitting. The project was very successful and the results are remarkable.
I
have enclosed pictures of the construction walk of our project. It is quite a
transformation. Our
builder was wonderful, too. This outcome would not have been
possible without the commitment from Mike
Rust the Architect and Rick Williams
the builder.
Sincerely,
Alan Margolis
